Background

Throughout the course of my 30 year career people have sought me out to help them achieve their personal and professional goals, and often to work through extremely challenging conflict situations.

With experience as a counselling psychologist, a barrister & solicitor (specialising in employment law), and as a corporate human resources manager, I have extensive experience in helping people with problems and opportunities, particularly in the context of their working lives. This has included CEOs and other executives, and private individuals, from large and small organisations and across a wide variety of industries and sectors. I have worked through many multi million dollar disputes and I have also worked through many disputes where the financial issues were relatively negligible but the impacts on peoples lives were potentially devastating.

My approach to coaching has developed through my years of experience in helping people and through extensive training.  I help people to build a full understanding of the situation, including any underlying issues and the resources they have to cope with the situation (that they may be unaware of or discounting).  From there we can identify and test options for moving forward.  This is always unique to the individual and their particular circumstances.  It may include ongoing support but in most cases no more than 1 - 3 sessions are needed.

Training & Education

My formal qualifications are in law (LLB (Hons)), psychology (PG Dip Couns Psych, MHSc (First Class Hons), BHSc (First Class Hons)), business (Dip Bus (PMER)) and English (BA).  I have trained as a Master Coach with the Behavioral Coaching Institute (Australia) and as a Conflict Coach with CINERGY (Canada). I have been trained in both Egan's Coaching model and Hill's helping skills model. I am a trained user of psychological assessments including Hogans assessments, the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, and Saville and Holdsworth personality and ability assessments.

I am an experienced mindfulness meditation instructor and teacher. Among other things, I work with mindfulness to reduce stress if anxiety and pressure are interfering with performance or enjoyment of life.

Interests

My work is a passion for me but away from that I enjoy spending time with my children, love art and music, motorcycling, mountain biking and walking. I also volunteer my time as a teacher and meditation instructor, helping people of all religious, political and social backgrounds to enjoy sane, kind and dignified lives in a busy world.
